Gulf Oil Drag Racing star, Filippos Papafilippou – AKA Fast Fil – has been crowned FIM European Top Fuel Motorcycle champion after a nerve-racking finale at Santa Pod, Great Britain.
Derek Bell (above left) an integral part of Gulf’s Le Mans triumphs, was part of the presentation party at Laguna Seca, together with Gulf’s Ravi Chawla (above right) as Gulf celebrated the 50th anniversary of its first Le Mans victory and unveiled the new Ford GT ’68 Heritage at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.

The team will be hoping for their first podium finish of the nine race WEC SuperSeason, when the series returns to action on the 14th October in Fuji, Japan.
Meanwhile, sticking with Silverstone, Gulf Retail renewed its agreement as the official fuel partner to Silverstone Circuits in June, providing the world-renowned motor racing venue with its full requirement of fuels, including a range of premium and racing fuels, as well as heating oils and generator fuels.
Manchester United returned from the international break to put in a commanding display against Watford and make it two wins from the last two in the Premier League.
Ford Motor Company and Gulf Oil are celebrating 50 years of their legendary back to back wins at the Le Mans. To mark this special anniversary, a Ford GT '68 Heritage edition has been showcased at the Rolex Historic Reunion event at the Laguna Seca Raceway in California. The original Ford GT40 with chassis number 1075 had won the races in 1968 and 1969, one of the few cars to ever do this since. The most distinct feature on the Ford GT '68 Heritage edition is the Heritage Gulf Oil Blue and Orange livery that has since become one of the most recognised race liveries in motorsport. It also bears the competition number 9 as on the original 968 race car. The car will be sold in limited numbers in 2019 and 2020, with the competition number changing to six for the second year.

The Gulf Model car promotion got off to a strong start in terms of take-up across various businesses, but with the release of the animation and the cars now being in circulation, they seem to be attracting a second wave of interest, with further orders coming in.

The middle part of the year is traditionally one of the busiest for Gulf, despite the fact that the football season has ended.
It kicked off in fine style as Gulf’s cricket team in the Indian Premier League, the Chennai Super Kings, lived up to their name and put in a super performance to mark their return to the IPL in the most regal way possible, by winning the IPL crown.
Motorsport-wise there are some huge events for Gulf to celebrate this year with the Monaco Historic Grand Prix and, of course, the Le Mans 24 Hours – with the 50th anniversary of the first Gulf Victory there.
Not only that, but we had some fantastic performances on two wheels to celebrate, as Gulf took to the Isle of Man to compete in the legendary TT for the first time and some three weeks later, we also witnessed the first appearance of a Gulf bike and rider on a World Superbike Podium.
Gulf has also extended its association with King Racing to encompass a busier year for the drag team than they have ever undertaken.
Even though Manchester United’s season is over, on the pitch, its players have been making their presence felt at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and the team has already been busy in the transfer market, ahead of August’s return to Premier League action. Manchester United Legends have also proved as popular as ever in appearances all over the world, in the last couple of months.
2018 is already turning into the busiest sporting year for Gulf yet, offering more opportunities than ever to activate one or more parts of our excellent sporting platform to best advantage for your business.
With so many highlights, it’s hard to know where to start, but a quick glance through the contents of this edition of Gulf Sport will hopefully give you some inspiration – as well as an idea of what is to come over the next few months….
