QSo what have been the stand out points of your visit?
AIshaan: It has really been one big highlight, but of it all I think that one of the most memorable aspects of our being here was that we got to spend a lot of time with the Gulf Racing Team, where we got to interact with the engineers, the team members and the drivers - speaking to them and just trying to get as much information as possible about how things work... and absorb it all.
QWhat's it like being on the inside of the WEC?
AKarminder: The entire atmosphere of being in the middle of a racing team which is running at such a high level is incredible and we got to witness qualifying from the pit garage with the team - as well as viewing pit-stops and driver changes in the garage, as they happened.
Ishaan: It was a superb experience.
QWhat surprised you?
AIshaan: We got to go up to the commentators' booth as well. Their work is extremely hard and we got to spend more than half an hour there. I can't even begin to imagine how they manage to commentate for the whole six hour race - it must be so difficult. Full marks to them!
Karminder: There were just so many little bits and pieces that we've come across. Being guests at the Le Mans Spirit Club really was a wonderful experience with everything it had to offer.
QGulf is a sponsor of the VW Vento Cup in India. How do you think an initiative like this helps young drivers and how will it help promote motor sport in general, in India?
AIshaan: I think one of the issues that we've faced, motorsport-wise, is the relative lack of exposure compared to other sports. The sport is growing, but it's still not up to that level.
Karminder: For a younger driver, he or she is going to be completely thrilled to be in this whole environment - interacting with all sorts of different people.
Ishaan: We have both learned a lot, talking with the engineers, and any young driver is going to get a huge amount from an experience like this.
Ishaan: We know Gulf is very keen on helping promote motorsport in India and we really have to thank them for making this possible. Some of the things we've witnessed are quite inspirational, so hopefully our experiences will help inspire others and, all being well, there will be more people following in our footsteps in the future.
